Little Background Story:
So we had a Hardware Failure of an old system which turned out to be the NIS master for our Unix part of our network, which in turn had been administered by a colleague who had retired half a year beforehand without documenting this part. Additionally the backup system had stopped working for that machine years ago and nobody noticed it.
Luckily we had some NIS slaves.
I have created a new NIS master on VMware, proper backup system etc. and used ypcat to import everything into the SLES NIS system - which worked after finding out it needed shadow no matter what. pwconv helped.
Now I have to integrate this new NIS into our currently on Slaves running NIS environment.
The Question here is: If one replaces the NIS server config for a client, will it throw out currently logged in user or will it continue to work?
The database and the maps are identical to the master before.
