Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've created a custom admin role, having CsUserAdministrator as a template. Then I've added a user to the proper AD group. When I try to enable new Lync user I get following error:

PS C:\Users\lynctest1> Enable-CsUser domain\lynctest4 -RegistrarPool lync.domain.com -SipAddress sip:lynctest4@domain.com

Enable-CsUser : Cannot bind parameter 'SipAddress' to the target. Exception setting "SipAddress": "Cannot open database "xds" requested by the login. The login failed.

Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\lynctest1'."

At line:1 char:87

+ ... et -SipAddress sip:lynctest4@domain.com

+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

+ CategoryInfo : WriteError: (:) [Enable-CsUser], ParameterBindingException

+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : ParameterBindingFailed,Microsoft.Rtc.Management.AD.Cmdlets.EnableOcsUserCmdlet

When I try to enable same user from Lync Control Panel it works fine.

Do I need to grant permissions for each Lync user administrator to SQL server explicitly? Or I just missed something?
