Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Here in the IT dept we've recently got a (not new) IBM BladeCenter and I found two Server Connectivity Module unused. From the MM web UI, I tried to configure a IP address to find out what features this modules have and wasn't able to find out. Is that a network interface extensor for the blade servers?

Thanks in advance,

The IBM BladeCenter Server Connectivity Module (SCM) provides a simple Ethernet interface option for connecting the IBM BladeCenter system to the network infrastructure.

This is from the IBM site IBM Help System

Complete instructions for install and use are found at SCM Install Guide

This description is a little vague. So it's a common switch? –  Vinícius Ferrão Jun 24 '13 at 16:33
