I am getting myself into some mongodb administration, and I have been having some problems. The installation I am running was throwing many errors (I am using the mongo plugin for icinga). I had upped the machines memory from 4GB to 16GB, and things appear to be running smoothly, but if I run:
ps -eLf | grep mongo | wc -l
I can see that there are about 150 mongo threads running. Is this too much? I have a number of applications that connect to this database, but they should all be using a few shared connections.
Any ideas on what I could to to figure this out? Should I even worry?
EDIT: Since upping the memory and letting it run, it appears the number of threads has increased to about 700 and still appears to be growing. I am using some celery processes with pymongo to connect. Maybe the connection pooling isn't being utilized?
My apologies if I could have structured this better.
