I have a website that uses Postfix to send out emails. It turns out the IP address for my site has been blacklisted, and testing here: http://multirbl.valli.org/, by sending out an email results in the reverseDNS lookup failing and an error
The HELO/EHLO string doesn't match to one of the names in the rDNS from connecting IP, and
rDNS for IP xx.xxx.xxx.x No record found!
For my domain, I have a blank A record, a
www A record and a
postfix record all pointing to my servers IP. Setting up the reverse lookup on my domain to any of these three:
postfix.example.com works when I reverse lookup with a tool like mxtoolbox's reverse lookup, but when I test on multirbl, it fails.
In postfix's config I have
myhostname set to
postfix.example.com or whatever prefix I am trying to test.
mydomain set to
I'm not sure why the rDNS lookup isn't working at all on multirbl but is on mxtoolbox, am I missing something?
