I am learning how to program in PHP so I chose to install Ubuntu in a VMware VM to act as a server. I used the Ubuntu Server distro and could set up nginx with php5-fpm in several minutes. However, I tried to do the same with the "mini" ISO and failed to access the web server from the host. I can see the webpage from inside the VM itself, but if I try to do it from the host, I see lines such as the following in /var/log/nginx/access.log:

192.168.52.1 - - [10/Jul/2013:18:07:31 +0000] "OPTIONS /www HTTP/1.1" 405 181 "-" "Microsoft-WebDAV-MiniRedir/6.1.7601"

I created a samba share in the document root and can access it perfectly. Where can I look for the possible cause of the problem? What logs/config files should I see/attach?

Thanks,

jfabian

Are you attempting to access it using WebDAV from Windows explorer? Or through a web browser? –  Shane Madden Jul 12 '13 at 17:21
