I plan to build an mdadm raid10 f2 using 2x1Tb and 2*3Tb hard disks.
I have read the wikipedia page but I am not sure I understood everything properly.
For what I have read I can loose at the same time 1*1Tb and 1*3Tb. Is that right ? I mean if I do:
mdadm --create /dev/md0 -v --raid-devices=4 --layout=f2 -level=raid10 /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd1
Will mdadm intelligently pair the two first drives and pair the two second drives ?
When I'll want to, will I be able to:
- replace my 2*1Tb with for eg. 2*2Tb and then extend the available storage space ?
- add an additional pair of disks and extends the available storage space ?
Thank you in advance.
