Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a Windows 2003 (x86) print server and am trying to add 64 bit drivers for a couple of old LaserJet printers. (An HP LaserJet 4050TN and a HP LaserJet 1320DN).

The only 64 bit drivers for these are the UPD drivers (I think).

I'm using these instructions:

Here's an example. You have a Windows Server 2003 running on a x86 processor and Windows Vista clients running on a x64 processor. Install the x86 driver directly on the server. Log on a Vista computer (using an account with sufficient privilege to access the server!). Open \PrintServerName\Printers in Windows Explorer. Go to File, Server Properties. In the Drivers tab, click on Add. Select only the x64 architecture and browse to find your driver. The x64 will be uploaded to the x86 server.

from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/92d5e028-34fe-4623-9d9a-31b8b820f043/installing-x64-additional-drivers-for-shared-x86-print-server-on-2003-server-x86-sp2-help

which make sense. However, because there are loads of INF files in the UPD I don't know which is the correct one. I have tried going through them, but get an error telling me it is the wrong driver for the processor architecture. (It's definitely the 64bit version I have, however.)
