I've got some Microsoft Hyper-V VMs that I manage via System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager.
There's one VM that I am trying to create a new checkpoint for (it has 3 previous checkpoints already), and I get the following error message...
Virtual machine Dev2k8x32007 cannot be used for any checkpoint actions. For checkpoint actions, a virtual machine must be running, stopped, paused or in a saved state. Ensure that the virtual machine is running, stopped, paused or in a saved state, and then try the command again. ID: 2206
The VM is running, and in fact I can RDP to it and use it with no problem. I was able to create a checkpoint for a different VM, so it seems to be just this one VM is having the issue. I've restarted the VM and the same issue still occurs. It isn't under migration, and doesn't have any jobs running that I can see.
I've tried searching on google, but really nothing relevant comes up except the documentation for the error codes, and that doesn't say anything about what to do if this happens and the VM is already running.
Has anyone ever seen this before, and if so, what to do about it?
UPDATE - this issue was somehow resolved after I asked a coworker to try creating a checkpoint for me. He was able to do it with no problem, and after that I was also able to create a new checkpoint with no problem.
It would still be nice to know why this happened in the first place.
