Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We currently have 20GB of emails in public folders in our old exchange. Our new external provider do not support public folders on their exchange servers.

We ideally would like to find a replacement so we can decommission the exchange server at some stage.

We thought about to move all emails to our SharePoint Server. The 20GB of emails will not overload the SharePoint?

Is there any alternate solution to access these mails without an exchange server?

Regards Ulf

If these were mail-enabled public folders that contain nothing but email items, you could create a shared mailbox on your hosted email provider, and export them to PST for import into the shared mailbox. There may be a better way using SharePoint, but I don't know the product that well.
