I am running a JIRA and a Confluence server behind a reverse proxy (Apache) and I am having some performance issues.

It works perfectly fine when I accessing Jira from an external network (i.e. from over the internet), however, when I am on Jira from within my network, it runs noticably slower and I will often get a page that says the request has timed out (not the one prescribed in the apache config - the generic browser one) as well as an occassional JavaScript messages saying that there was an error contacting the server. When I repeat the action immediately after the failed attempt, it generally goes through.
