I'm using MySQL 5.5.28-log (win32) and I'm unable to get binary log (binlog to work).

I enable it through my.cnf by adding logbin= yet I'm not seeing anything going to binlog, when I do SHOW MASTER STATUS I'm getting following:

mysql> SHOW MASTER STATUS\G;
*************************** 1. row ***************************
            File: do1-bin.000043
        Position: 107
    Binlog_Do_DB: do_
Binlog_Ignore_DB: mysql
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

ERROR:
No query specified

mysql>

I added binlog-do-db = "do_dev" into my.cnf as well, but that didn't help either, yet Binlog_Do_Db shows me do_ (I'm trying to log do_dev database). Where is it getting this do_ from anyway and how do I change it?

Please advise. Thanks!

You will want to remove the binlog_do_db and binlog_ignore_db options completely. You should not normally need these options specified at all and can cause problems with improper usage. –  Trent Lloyd Sep 13 '13 at 4:23
