Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I has a samba server(3.6.3-2ubuntu2.6). And uses libpam-smbpass package for authenticate users, which is connecting to smb server for file sharing from linux and mac os x hosts.

But libpam-smbpass not convenient because:

Requires early to enter through FTP for example, and then you can enter through samba.

This is no good solution for me.

I want that my samba file server uses my openldap as users and groups backed.

But I don't want to expand my ldap schema with samba schema.

If this is possible of course.

Please consult me: How I can do this in right way?

I found this link https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix

This link is useful for me? Or this is not my case ?

Thank you
