Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I want to load balance requests to a web servers pool, so I decided to use a couple of servers running keepalived to configure in MASTER/BACKUP configuration.

Everything works fine: the vrrp communication works properly when I shut down one of the two loadbalancers and they check the failed real_server removing them from the pool. But the problem is that keepalived never adds a real server back to the pool when it comes up after a failover... I need to manually restart the keepalived service in the two loadbalancers.

At the end it's not a "real" problem, because if a real server goes down, I need to make some controls and interventions on this server, so I could restart the keepalived services too. But I'd like these services could do as more as possible automatically, I mean removing and adding real_servers in to the pool by itself.

Is it possible?
