Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm dealing with several databases, some of which will participate in replication, others will not. Is it possible (or wise) to keep the replication schema on the database that do not participate in replication? Backing up a replicated database and restoring it somewhere else yields a database WITHOUT replication schema (which was strange to me).

The reason for wanting to do this is to keep all databases in the same "state" (i.e. same schema), so DB comparison tools will be easier to use on both replicated and non-replicated databases. What is the recommended way of dealing with this situation.

Thanks!
