Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Right now i have 2 branches in Asia, one is in Malaysia and another in Vietnam.
unfortunately both communicate are using port 6901~6999 and port 1433, because of long distance i afraid the communication problem,
so i m using VPN to avoid 2 branches no need to setting any port forwarding in router, is VPN can avoid or pass through router? Both computer are in same network, i think no need to setting any port forwarding any more?right?
I m using Ubuntu server to host VPN.

Or have any method to prevent setting Port Forwarding in Router?

1)Use VPN on both computer, we only setting port on VPN Server, both computer do not need setting any port forwarding in router, correct or not?
2)if first question is incorrect, have any ideas to avoid setting port forwarding in router? other than use Hamachi.
