I have running MegaRAID under Windows 2012R2, the original array has been setup with two 900GB SSDs. One SSD on Slot 1 failed and I replaced it with Seagate 2TB spindle but the controller instead of starting to rebuild the array it marked the new drive as Unconfigured drives! I've tried to make it hot spare but it only lets me do a global hot spare which is not being picked up by the broken array. Right click on the Virtual Drive gives me only following options:

-Rename Virtual Drive

-Delete Virtual Drive

-Set Virtual Drive Properties

MegaRAID documentation says that a broken array should start rebuilding automatically as soon as a new drive is inserted into same slot..... well this didn't happen.

If anyone has any idea how I can rebuild the array without server reboot please let me know.
