Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I had a shared folder on server (ubuntu 12.04) that was exported via nfsv4. Then I had to switch to RAID0 and mount it to the same mount point that had previous shared folder.

On server:

service nfs-kernel-server stop
umount /mount-point
mount -t ext3 /dev/md0p1 /mount-point
service nfs-kernel-server start
exportfs -f

/etc/exports:

/mount-point *(rw,no_subtree_check,fsid=1)

On client:

mount -a

/etc/fstab:

server:/mount-point /client-mount-point nfs defaults 0 0

After that, every time I try to ls /client-mount-point I get Stale NFS handle error.

umount -l /client-mount-point

and

umount -f /client-mount-point

do not help.

Unfortunately, rebooting clients is not an option
