We had an interesting scenario in our clustered production environment last week. SQL 2008/R2 two boxes clustered on Win 2008/R2 in Active/Passive mode. On the active node A, the clustered MS/DTC service lost connection the SAN (but other drives didn't), and thus failed over to node B. The SQL kept running on Node A.

We have BizTalk server on another machine, talking to that SQL, and BizTalk requires DTC. So although our web apps kept working with SQL, BizTalk was failing.

The question: Is it possible to make SQL also failover to B if any of its resources (such as MSDTC) fails.
