I have Lubuntu 13.10 installed as host. I installed xen 4.3.0 using apt-get and have created 1 guest which is Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I am trying to pass through USB devices from Dom0 to DomU.

"lsusb" on host returns the following:

Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 006 Device 002: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 04fa:2490 Dallas Semiconductor DS1490F 2-in-1 Fob, 1-Wire adapter
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 045e:0750 Microsoft Corp. Wired Keyboard 600
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 045e:0040 Microsoft Corp. Wheel Mouse Optical
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

The two devices I am wanting to pass through are 006.002 and 005.002

My VM config file looks like this, i am just trying to get one connected at the moment:

name = "sitedash"
memory = 1024
disk = ['phy:/dev/btvg/lv01,xvda,w']
vif = [' ']

bootloader = "pygrub"

usb = 1
## Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT
usbdevice = ['host:0403:6001']

After I start the VM with this config file, I access the VM and when I enter "lsusb" I get the following message:

unable to initialize libusb: -99

If I return to the host and enter "sudo xm usb-add sitedash host:006.002" or "sudo xm usb-add sitedash host:0403:6001", I get the following message:

Error: Can't add usb device to a guest with usb disabled in configure file

qemu is installed on both host and vm. I cannot find any more information about what else might need to be installed to get this working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Greg J
