Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We have run into an issue with our Windows Server 2012 operating system while using a PPPoE network connection.

Sometimes the internet connection goes offline for a second and we have to connect back manually. I know that Windows 7 & 8 operating systems has the option to attempt to reconnect to the network, but this is missing from Windows Server 2012 (I don't know if it exists in previous systems).

My question is, is there an option to automaticaly reconnect if connection is lost or do I have to solve this problem using some sort of scripting or such?

Thank you in advance!

I would prefer to have a dedicated *DSL modem or other hardware device handle the PPPoE. –  Michael Hampton Dec 22 '13 at 21:34
