I am new to configuring SNMPV3 on my redhat linux net-snmp. I have made some changes in the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file and also added the user with createUser directive in snmptrapd.conf file. The snmpd process was restarted with no errors in snmpd.log.

The Ip of the server having the master agent is 157.203.149.57 and the one having sub agent is 157.203.149.60. Before I configure my application's subagent I just want to check that my master agent is configured properly with SNMPv3.

When I do this from the same server hosting masteragent:

snmptrap -v 3 -e 0x8000000001020304 -u myuser -l noAuthNoPriv -n "" localhost 42 1.3.6.1.4.1.2032.1.3.2.1.10.0.4

I get a proper output of snmptrapdin debug mode:

# snmptrapd -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs -m airwide-solutions-inUnixPlatformApp-MIB -f -n -Ddump

When I do the same from the server that will be hosting the subagent, I dont get any desired output:

The snmptrap command genertes no snmptrapd output snmptrap -v 3 -c public -e 0x8000000001020304 -u myuser -l noAuthNoPriv -n "" 157.203.149.57 20 1.3.6.1.4.1.2032.1.3.2.1.10.0.4

The IPs 157.203.149.57 157.203.149.60 are inter pingable and have necessary /etc/hosts entries

Can somebody help with this. What exactly I'm doing wrong.
