Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a ubuntu 12.10 server hosting multiple sites, we want to outsource development work and provide ssh ftp/ssh access to the different developers.

I want to stop developers from going into other web directories but the one they are working on.

How can I go about limiting user accounts or groups to access specific directories?

This can be perfectly done using linux's file permissions. Do your research before you ask a question: help.ubuntu.com/community/FilePermissions –  rednaw Jan 13 at 16:33
