I've a dedicated server with postfix MTA & one Virtual machines running on server. But I am having issue with sending emails from websites configured on virtual machine. It gives me below error when I am trying to send email.

Jan 28 07:38:17 app postfix/smtpd[10806]: connect from unknown[10.28.169.130]
Jan 28 07:38:17 app postfix/smtpd[10806]: lost connection after EHLO from unknown[10.28.169.130]
Jan 28 07:38:17 app postfix/smtpd[10806]: disconnect from unknown[10.28.169.130]

where 10.28.169.130 is private interface of dedicated system. I can send mails from other servers using this MTA only having issue with VM instance.

You can do one of two things, first, add 10.28.169.130/32 to your mynetworks declaration, or relax your restrictions for sending.. at the moment you can only send if you're in mynetworks, or provide sasl authentication.

  • thanks for your response, I've added this IP to mynetworks but still I am getting same error. Jan 29, 2014 at 4:46
  • Add this debug_peer_list = 10.28.169.130 to your main.cf, then reload postfix.. also have a look at the maillog on 10.28.169.130.

  • It's resolved now, actually I was trying to send emails from OSQA website with authentication. But there is issue in OSQA for SMTP auth. So as per your answer I've added ip in mynetworks & sending mails without authentication now. BW Thanks for your help Jan 29, 2014 at 9:20
  • Ah, I should have asked if your were sending with smtp_auth, the mynetworks setting is a nice shortcut though :)
