Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Whenever I run diskpart from the command prompt I get the following:

"The disk management services could not complete the operation."

This started happening last week and I can't seem to get it fixed.

I've tried the solution here: http://windowsitpro.com/article/articleid/81899/jsi-tip-8514-windows-server-2003-diskpartexe-reports-the-disk-management-services-could-not-complete-the-operation-when-you-attempt-to-perform-storage-management.html

Anyone know of something I can try? Normally I get allocated a volume from the SAN and I partition with diskpart to align it for SQL Server but I'm kind of stuck.

I've seen it happen before, and it usually cleared by itself. –  mrdenny Aug 24 '09 at 18:14
Are you still able to use the Disk Management MMC plugin or is that out of action too? –  Helvick Aug 24 '09 at 18:31
Is there anything like the old Veritas thing that used to take over from Disk Management installed? –  Darth Melkor Aug 24 '09 at 18:38
No to Veritas. The plugin shows that it's working. That's the next thing we'll try is to see what we can do from there. –  jasoncrider Aug 24 '09 at 18:44
