Can i replace 3300uf 6.3v for Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ with other value? and what value?
Sorry for inconvenience if I'd asked question like this on serverfault, and actually i will use this board for Bare-Metal Virtualization if repaired.
Thanks.

Yes, providing that it is the same voltage or higher and a roughly similar farad value. going below the voltage of 6.3 will likely cause the cap to blow. 3300uf is a very large value and is very likely used to compensate for power spikes in the system and not noise filtering. so a value of around +2500uf should be ok... (Do NOT take my word on that, its a rough guess, don't come crying to me if the system is very unstable) Measure the caps dimensions. ive replaced caps on boards before where the entire 'hack' failed because the new caps where to tall and obstructed the CPU heatsink. My advice, go on ebay or digikey or element14 or mouser and buy a pack of ten exact same value and physical size caps and use them. |

You can replace the 6.3V capacitors with higher voltage caps, generally this will still run fine, although you can run into problems if the circuit needs low esr caps, generally I'd recommend to use the same manafacturer & caps if you're replacing broken caps, and if not I'd think seriously about replacing them, you have a good chance of breaking your motherboard if you aren't used to replacing components or do not select the right components. Why do you want to replace them? |

If you are asking whether you can replace a 3300uf 6.3v capacitor on a motherboard with another value capacitor, then the answer is no, if you want a reasonable chance of any such repair actually working. |

Wow, you're not exactly helping yourself here you know. Do you mean "Can I replace the 3300uf 6.3v CAPACITOR on my Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ MOTHERBOARD with another value?"? Do you need to know this answer in order to fix the motherboard or to over/under-clock/volt the motherboard or some other reason. Why not help us to help you, don't just drop a badly-formed question and expect people to figure out your objectives. Oh and if it's to fix it then why change the values; just get it repaired properly - and if it's a mod then it should be in superuser.com as most serverfault.com users are much more interested in keeping our machine working all the time than pointlessly squeezing out a few percent of performance by lowering the MTBFs of our boxes. Edit - oh and as far as I can tell that motherboard doesn't support ANY of the AMD processors with AMD-V hardware virtualisation support (i.e. Athlon 64 or newer) - so I'm really not sure how you're going to get it working with any bare-metal hypervisor. |
