How to change java version on Tomcat 6 with Xampp

With just Tomcat, it's pretty easy to change the JVM version. But using the tomcat add-on on an xampp install, I can't seem to figure out how to change the JVM to 6 from 5.

As well, this is installed on Vista as a Windows service on a dev box.

Rather than try to figure out what environment variables and scripts to change, I took the easy way -

1. Stop Tomcat if it's running
2. Rename the <xampp dir>/tomcat/jre directory to something else (like jre.1.5.0)
3. Copy the entire jre directory from your jdk installation into <xampp dir>/tomcat/jre
4. Restart Tomcat

Note: this worked for me using the stand-alone Tomcat add-on under XAMPP. I haven't tested it when Tomcat is installed as a service, but it should still work.

Yes Alex Zuroff you are right that work but but don't forget to say they should take the JRE6 from the JDK6 where there are the folder ..../jre/bin/server/* else that do'nt work.
