Im attempting to install VM Tools so I may use shared folder functionality between my host and vm.

I am using the FreeBSD virtual machine file as from: http://vmware.com/appliances/directory/121983

And followed the tutorial from: http://vmware.com/support/gsx3/doc/tools_install_lin_gsx.html

However I have come across a strange error when installing after specifying folders:

This configuration program is to be executed in a virtual machine.

Execution aborted.

Bad system call. (Core dumped)

But I am running it in a virtual machine!! Any ideas? Thanks.

is that the output of vmware-config-tools.pl? –  Josh Oct 12 '09 at 15:56

What version of VMware are you using? What version of FreeBSD are you installing. If you're using GSX 3 (per the documentation you linked to), there may be incompatibilities with recent versions of FreeBSD. As a smoke test I would try launching the VM in a recent version of VMware Player and see what happens. –  Josh K Oct 12 '09 at 17:37
