We're sending thousands of mail every hour to customer that subscribe to our notices and today we're using a local vendor. We've had some problems with them in therms of downtime, API response times taking up 12s (not cool if you're sending thousands of emails).

Do you have any recommendation for a vendor that complys with the following:

  • API (Send email, full control over body, subject, fromaddress, replytoaddress, replytoname, attachments)
  • Statistics (opened, links clicked, bounced hard+soft)
  • Able to automatically send daily report with bounces
  • Awesome at sending mail to i.e. hotmail or gmail so that our mail isn't marked as spam.
  • Not too pricy
  • International
  • 99.9% uptime!

I've looked at mailchimp which looks promising.

This seems more like a ServerFault question. It has nothing to do with programming. – Michael Dillon Oct 23 '09 at 8:29

Besides Mail Chimp, You might want to take a look at Campaign Monitor. Wakoopa is also a great way to know user opinions about software / web services and learn about alternatives.
