I'm a newbie with Iometer, about to use it to compare I/O performance of a VM vs. non-VM environment for a web-based application.
One of the steps with Iometer is to choose its test configuration. The docs say to use performance monitor, and I've also seen a blog entry showing how to do it with diskmon.
In an effort to be lazy and save some time, I'm wondering if there are pre-canned configurations out there that are good for this type of measurement, or if any of the global access specifications are useful for this type of testing. Or is each situation different enough that it warrants the I/O usage research?
