cPanel and public_html permissions

Question

Is there any reason why I cant have the public_html directory set with 755 permissions?

Default appears to be 750.

I am using WHM and cPanel - Apache(Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) - PHP 5.2.11 - CentOS 4.8 i686 standard - PHP 5 Handler is dso - Apache suEXEC is on

Nope, you can make them 0755 if you want.

Try with an FTP client liek WS_FTP or FileZilla to simply change the properties of your public_html folder. On my cPanel works.
