Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We want to monitor traffic on vnic (ip type is set to exclusive) assigned to Solaris zone. Unfortunately we have IF-MIB::ifInOctets = 0 on the interface counters as from snmp running in global zone, as from snmp running inside a zone.

dladm show-link -s vnic in global zone reports some numbers so I believe getting traffic stats is possible but don't know how.

Any suggestions?

p.s. temporary solution: "exec .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.80 vnic0in /usr/sbin/dladm show-link -s -p -o RBYTES vnic0" in snmpd.conf but it's not a perfect of course. –  disserman Nov 20 '09 at 12:35

Is it a requirement to monitor it using SNMP? –  Martin Aug 29 '10 at 1:46
