Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a website hosted on my PC. I use ZoneEdit.com for my DNS and dynamic IP setting.

If my domain is www.example.com, how can I send email to any email address on the net from contact@example.com?

I have tried different mailservers and looked for tutorials, but nothing has worked for me.

What OS is on your PC? Is there a mailserver? How are you wanting to send the mail? Scripted? Interactive? Do you need to accept incoming email? –  wfaulk Nov 21 '09 at 0:25

Quote from the XAMPP site: "The default configuration is not good from a securtiy point of view and it's not secure enough for a production environment - please don't use XAMPP in such environment." I'd highly recommend not running a publically-accessible site on XAMPP - doing so is just asking to get hacked. Get yourself a real LAMP setup and you'll be much better off. –  EEAA Nov 21 '09 at 6:03

You need to use an external smtp mail but with authentication. For example you can use your email account.
