We are running SBS 2003 on a HP Proliant ML350 G3. When running backup exec to an ultrium tape drive the server started crashing. I tried updating backup exec but it still crashes the server when backing up. I tried using NT Backup to an external hard drive and this also causes the server to crash. No clues in the event logs. The HP diagnostics tell me the drives are okay.

Any Ideas?

What type of crash? Blue screen? What type of backup, VSS? More info is needed. What is the tape interface? – DanBig Dec 2 '09 at 14:22
The tape interface is scsi and the serevr just stops ressponding to pins and remote access. Unfortunatly it is screenless at the moment. – Gram Dec 2 '09 at 14:24
What do the event logs say? – Scott Lundberg Dec 2 '09 at 14:28
Guys just to let you know it was the scsi controller card that was on it's way out. Now fixed with a replacement. Many Thanks – Gram Dec 4 '09 at 11:48
