i have window vista home edition in my laptop but iam unable to install iis. pls help.

Define "unable to install" please. What's happening when you try, are you getting any errors? Your question is too general as it is. – mh. Dec 12 '09 at 16:25

Click on the main 'Programs' link (as opposed to add/remove, etc.); Then under 'Programs and Features' select the 2nd link 'Turn Windows features on or off'; Then selected IIS which is the 3rd option.

If you are receiving an error past that, please let us know.

FYI: IIS is severely limited in the Home edition of Vista (e.g. you won't be able to serve even static web pages). So although you may be able to seemingly install it, you may not end up with the capabilities you are anticipating.
