I do not think there is a migration tool for the MUC content to migrate data from Mnesia to relational database. If you still need that feature, I suggest you post a feature request on ejabberd issue tracker on Github: https://github.com/processone/ejabberd/issues
It turns out that the issue was a follows. Port 5222 uses TLS and and 5223 uses SSL. This is the usual setup. Somehow, these were reverse on my installation and this was causing the issue. Lync client cannot work as an XMPP client. XMPP supports in Lync is only relating to gateway. It means that users of a Lync Server can talk with users of an XMPP server. However, it does not mean you can use Lync client to connect directly to an XMPP server.
