technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.12.network.aspx mentions TcpNumConnections in a registry location but I couldn't make this work on win 7 at least ? Anyone, a way to increase the concurrent connections limit (or at least number of newly opened sockets per second) ?

comment Why do I need six cores in a cpu for a server?
@johnny Windows automatically uses multi-cores and even multi processor systems depending on the windows version. For example windows server 2008 can handle more than 256 or 512 hardware threads if I'm not mistaken
