I am a software developer at Neosavvy. I write code, I tinker, I learn, I break things, I try to fix them, I partake in rampant geekery.

comment Xen DomU images running on Ubuntu 12.04
I actually was unable to migrate these in a timely fashion. I was using a CentOS based Dom0 and DomU. I now have migrated and set everything up on a Ubuntu 12.04 Dom0 and DomU.

Thanks for the reply, I was going to try to have the server etc communicate on these ports with a different network address space. Once I just adopted the same address space as all other machines on the network I had no issue making things work. I was mislead a bit when the ports still show up as "detached" in the web interface, however pings work and I am able to mount the NFS shares over these interfaces from the server. My main concern know is trying to make sure routing for NFS related IO goes over all these interfaces. Thanks again.

Shane I actually changed the configuration to be 1.1.1.1 <--> 1.1.1.2 and on the other port 1.1.2.1 <--> 1.1.2.2 with the subnet 255.255.255.252 just as you stated. This worked perfectly and likely I was just tired when I attempted it the night before with the huge subnet. @ShaneMadden thanks.

comment Peer to peer connection over SFP+ Passive 10Gbe cable
Not sure how it could be a dupe as the cabling is different in both questions (at least to my intermediate knowledge) but hopefully someone here knows better than me since that is why I am asking.

On one end I will have this adapter: Intel® 82599EB 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller with 2 SFP+ interfaces on the other end I will have any of these three depending on what comes back as the best one for the job: Intel X520-DA2 (E10G42BTDA), Emulex OCe11102-IX or Emulex OCe11102-NX
