comment nslookup cannot resolve hostname for machine on external domain from internal domain
Thank you for your suggestion. When you say "server", do you mean the DNS servers or each and every server in its respective domain? The company's IT division manages the servers and would likely be resistant to adding DNS entries. I suppose if this is the only recourse, I'll have to go through IT. Otherwise, I'll have to run the script twice, one for each domain.

comment Need equivalent of command with nmap, awk and grep for Windows machines with PowerShell and/or Perl
I had to change the powershell version slightly to clear the error: %{ if ($_.Split()[2] -match "^\(org") { $_.Split()[1]; } }. I just added a backslash before the parenthesis in the regex and changed the array index in the output. Thank you for your help!

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. The Perl version works great. But I'm getting an error in PowerShell: Bad argument to operator '-match': parsing "^(r" - Not Enough )'s..

Thank you. I just accepted it a moment ago, since it does work (very well) in linux/unix environments. But I need an equivalent for Windows-based systems.

comment How can I scan using nmap and Zenmap all hostnames that begin with a particular string?
I'm not looking for something downloading sed, awk, or grep for Windows. Those are fine, but I'd prefer something innate like PowerShell or Perl.

This is incredible, thank you. What would be the equivalent in a Windows machine? If there is none, you need a programming language like Perl, how would you do it Perl? Thank you.

You're right. I just fixed that. Thanks for pointing it out.

comment Two different sites, same IP, same top-level domain, on IIS 7.5 — one works and the other displays HTTP 404 error
Thank you. Well, both sites operate fine when the first site has no host name bound. If I bind the host name for both sites, then the second site breaks. If I understand your explanation correctly, the second site should break, no matter what, because it also exists on port 80. But that's not what's happening here.

Thank you very much. If it's a port error, as you say, then why would taking off the host name for mysubsite1 fix the problem? And I thought the bindings look at IP, port, and hostname to determine the appropriate response and to where the request is mapped.

comment How can I encrypt certain pages with SSL (HTTPS) using IIS7.5, AJP Connector (1.3), and Apache Tomcat 5.5?
Thank you very much. I learned quite a bit from your post. I managed to enable SSL just on Tomcat, while keeping AJP to communicate between IIS and Tomcat. Now HTTP and HTTPS are both enabled and I can enforce HTTPS, based on the URL-pattern, in web.xml. The problem now is how do I enforce HTTP traffic?

comment How to use AWE for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) and SQL Server 2005 (32-bit)?
Thank you for responding. Yes, the 3GB switch is enabled. So, setting the max to 6041MB does nothing? Is AWE just a way to address more physical RAM, in this case, 4 GB? Thank you for your help.
