comment mysql: multi slave replication but one slave to replicate only single table of specific database
"Each slave receives the entire binary log but processess.." Isn't this a huge waste of data (expensive in AWS) for servers with HUGE (GBs in a day) binlogs? Is there a way to configure the master not to send this data to specific slaves?

comment Performance hit from moving DB to another drive symlink?
Thanks for this. We're moving the whole database folder for one particular db to a different drive. This shouldn't pose a problem the way symlinking each innodb file does, correct?

comment Can I run a cron job more frequently than every minute?
You can use run-one to ensure a program / even a PHP script isn't starting a duplicate instance. sudo apt-get install run-one and call it by run-one <normal command>

Thanks for this. Do you also get alerts from any of those daemons on critical or other errors? If you could point me to a tutorial on setting these up, would be much obliged.
