comment PHP SuHosin — my code is already secure… is it needed?
Thanks. Additionally, you don't know what bugs or vulnerabilities are present in PHP or the PHP modules you use. SuHosin may protect you from those as well. Can you explain how that's a concern if my script itself is secure? [Ask] what's the overhead or complication of using SuHosin? Do you know how difficult it is to use SuHosin?

comment ConfigServer Security and Firewall — after setup, how much daily management required?
Does CSF actually block real users from accessing your site because of "exceeded time to execute the process"? Also, I'm not sure if you understood the question: "How often do you receive security threat emails, where you need to take action manually to stop the threat?"

How often do you receive "security threat" emails, where you need to take action manually to stop the threat? I'm hoping I don't have to manually respond to too many security threats, but rather that the firewall would automatically take care of it for me.

comment Amazon Elastic Beanstalk - Any file managers?
You're correct. It appears the only thing you can do with the AWS Management console is upload your entire website in a zip file, where using Git makes it much easier to upload individual file changes. There's even some Git UIs on the Mac App Store.

comment Amazon EC2 - Provides a dedicated IP?
+1 (I wish) to @Chris S. I never thought of that. But chances of receiving a blacklisted IP are slim...

Just to confirm, are you talking about the Elastic IPs, or non-Elastic?

Are my servers the only ones using the IP address? (which is what dedicated offers)

comment Does PHP script itself count as a process?
Thanks. In conclusion, my entire script, and everything it does, counts as one process. Therefore, the only time an issue would occur is if 21 people tried to access the PHP script at the same time (20 is the concurrent process limit).

PHP's cURL functions.

So the script itself counts as a process. I do not use system calls. Do the things the script does (contacts a database, writes to session, and connects via cURL to a remote server) count as separate processes? Or will the number of processes always be 1?

My server uses mod_fcgid (fastCGI). What does it mean for the server to use "system calls for using external programs"? My script contacts a database, writes to session, and connects via cURL to a remote server (the main things). I understand that these all count as processes, but does the entire PHP script itself count as a process?

comment Does PHP script itself count as a process?
Okay, thank you. My script takes 7 seconds. My server only allows 20 concurrent processes. So if the script itself uses a process, as well as the other processes it performs, it sounds like it may not work in high traffic. If the script itself did not count as a process, that would help. Do you know if waiting for a remote server to respond with data (via cURL) counts as a process?

comment http or https for file download?
Thank you very much for the great answer. Using http, I now understand that someone can view the file, but can they modify the file (or modify the credentials), thereby hindering the person from downloading properly?

comment How much bandwidth speed do I need?
At peaks, I expect something like 200 people downloading simultaneously.
