comment What is a good configuration for a zpool built from 8-10 SSD for a home file server exported via NFS?
Samsung SSD 840 5B0Q. We have Solaris on other file servers so I'd like to keep it unless there's a good reason to switch. But don't mirrors offer a smaller fault tolerance? As for NFS we have NFSD_SERVERS=2048, LOCKD_SERVERS=1024 and *_LISTEN_BACKLOG=32 on the server side, but the number of nfsd threads is usually around 300-400.

comment Is it possible to change filesystem properties for an existing ZFS pool?
Is there a way to enable compression AND have the OS perform the compression inplace within the same zpool/zfs? I don't have enough space to run send/recv on a second zfs.

comment Water-Cooled Rack Door: does it work well with Blades or GPU nodes?
it's a designated room of about 80 m^2 with no windows and a single AC (pretty weak, perhaps ~20 kW or so to keep a constant room temperature). there's a water supply that has enough capacity to provide cooling for ~100 kW. there are no strong space constraints.
