I would believe this, as well. The problem is that I have additional web methods exposed on the web service. I have no issues with the ones that don't try to connect to SharePoint. Additionally, I have no problem fetching the WSDL. But you're absolutely right in that the exception is thrown by the client, NOT the web service code.

Unfortunately, when I have it configured as authenticaton="none", I get a 403 (forbidden) error. I'm sure it's not the web service because other web methods (ones that don't try to access SharePoint) have no problems.
