Connecting to SQL Server 2005 using 127.0.0.1\INSTNAME stops working if SQL Server 2008 is installed on the same machine The SQL Server Browser service wasn't running. Our application installs SQL Server Express 2005 and it usually installs the browser service and starts it. But I guess since a newer version of the browser service was already installed, it didn't have to install the browser component and thus didn't enable and start the browser service. |

How to determine which Windows update, updates a specific DLL? The Windows Update referenced in the article Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-075 does fix the SQL Server 2005 SP3 blue screen issue. The Windows Update is number is 926255 and is only applicable to XP SP2 (XP SP3 updates SXS.DLL). |

How to determine which Windows update, updates a specific DLL? Just through testing. It's actually fixed by an earlier downloadable 'hot fix' but it appears that it is also fixed by a later 'Windows Update'. |

How to determine which Windows update, updates a specific DLL? Rather than tell the customer they have to install ALL the updates or Windows XP SP3, we would like to tell them which specific update that they need to install. It's about minimal machine impact. |

Pass through authentication does not work with a specific account in Windows XP Home You are correct, the username was Owner. I added an account named Owner on the 2003 machine and all is well. You are the MAN! |

Pass through authentication does not work with a specific account in Windows XP Home @Farseeker, no doubt, but that's not an answer since I have 4 Windows XP Home machines\accounts where pass-through authentication works. |
