comment Send as shared mailbox alias
When I add the mailbox as an additional mailbox, it does not show up in the From address field. When I type in the actual SMTP alias, the shared mailbox is not shown in the 2nd field. The user has Send as rights on the shared mailbox, but when she tries to send an email using the alias, it returns an error that the user is not allowed to send mail

How is the network connection speed between the file server and the users? Are these users in another location?

comment Sent items are stored in own mailbox instead of shared mailbox
It happens often that mail folders just disappear from Outlook's cached copy. And we've seen a lot of mysterious problems with shared calendars (for example: calendars that appear empty in cached mode, but do have appointments in them) and now this problem with saving sent items to the user's folders instead of the mailbox where it belongs.

comment Anti-spam: allow only authorized SMTP servers
Very nice. I knew this wasn't something I could come up with first :) Are there any known implementations of SPF? And why isn't the whole world using this already?

Your story sounds as a perfect example of the Broken windows theory (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory)

comment Windows 7 slow logon to domain on branch office
Thank you very much. This has given me very much insight in the inner workings of windows. However I'm now almost 100% sure that it is a bandwidth problem. loading a 100mb profile takes about 1:40 minutes (100 seconds), which is 1 mb/sec, which is almost equal to 10 Mbps

I've added the branch subnet, the main office subnet and the server subnet. Is that ok?

comment Windows 7 slow logon to domain on branch office
Thx. I've run Wireshark and it showed a 100kb/sec download during the login, with a higher download after login. Of course I will try your suggestion and post results here

Thank you. That is indeed what is happening now. Is it possible to disable it for internal recipients as well?

comment exchange 2003 send as does not work on some people
microsoft isn't relaly helpful in this case. maybe the hotfix would solve the problem, but they keep sending the wrong version. So yes, I mark this answer as accepted although I don't know if that is true.
