If it involves computers or electronics, I probably do it.

I have experience with Exchange, Sharepoint, Zabbix, Powershell, Hyper-V clusters, and a whole host of other things.

If you need to contact me, my email address is grant@emsley.ca

Have you done a proper speed test by plugging the modem directly into a laptop and running the speed test from there (configuring PPPoE if needed)? That test usually instantly determines if it is an ISP issue or an internal network issue.

@Tomtom it DOES rock. Its a pain to configure the first time but it lets you see how well your stuff works for a dialup client during a thunderstorm without leaving your desk.

@tomtom The documentation for dummynet (which pfsense uses) says it can introduce delays.info.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/dummynet/#3d2a You can configure how many ms of delay to add.

comment What regular server maintenance is recommended for Hyper-v server VM's
@darkcat actually monitoring would have caught such a thing. By monitoring page load times for the webserver. And showing you a graph of cpu usage. Automated monitoring does what you can't no matter how hard you work - watch every server every minute of every day. And when you find something it didn't catch you reconfigure the monitoring system to catch it next time.

HyperV 2012r2 has a LOT of improvements to it. If you are just starting with hyperv start there!

comment Is there a way to get windows update information from linux?
I have a vbs script that reports back available updates to my linux monitoring system. Can be run as scheduled task or through winexe. Will post it for you when I get back to my PC.
