If it involves computers or electronics, I probably do it.

I have experience with Exchange, Sharepoint, Zabbix, Powershell, Hyper-V clusters, and a whole host of other things.

If you need to contact me, my email address is grant@emsley.ca

comment Network Interface binding order on Windows 8.1
Why does it matter what order they are listed in? Tell us what you are actually trying to achieve - there is probably a better way.

comment Store PGP keys on Active Directory/Exchange?
+1 for the squimish about extending the schema. There is no undoing it, and breaking AD would make for a very bad day. But it is a valid thing to do, Microsoft apps do it all the time.

comment Compare between MYSQL cluster and MYSQL server
And if you want a fair comparison you need to at least give the single server 15 gigs of RAM...

comment Can one server see traffic to another server inside a VLAN?
@Devon that's why you need to ENSURE vlans are setup properly...just as you need to ensure physical devices get plugged into the correct switch. If you can't trust the network environment, you need to use encryption, either through SSH, IPSec or some other VPN technology. If this is really sensitive info (credit cards, SSN's, proprietary company secrets, etc) use encryption even if you DO trust the network. And use full disk encryption as well - anyone with physical access to the machines it's stored on can see your data.

@davidschwartz I read it that way too...if that is his concern, these servers need their own private vlan, separate from the others.

comment How much harm can a non-root user cause?
@hopelessn00b that's a horrible exploit that people can take advantage of even without a user account. Clearly you need a moat, with sharks.

@matt I believe port mirroring is the term you are looking for.

Since you're already talking to Dell...I noticed there is also an H200 driver update being pushed by windows update, but no information on what it fixes...wonder if that is part of the fix?

comment Hyper-V suddenly gets RAW file system
What is the underlying storage system? Are the VDH files on a locak drive? DAS? SAN? High availability file server? And what version of hyperv? Also, side note, why is your backup a few months old? I'm hoping you just intentionally restored from the oldest available for testing...
