@BenjaminPeikes Spaces often require quoting in command line parameters and scripts - its not a big deal, but if you can save yourself the hassle...

comment Best practices for file layout in a Hyper-V server?
@BenjaminPeikes Relying on the XML files to match files to VMs is risky. I have had cases where either through accidental deletion or data corruption the XML files were gone or unreadable. Also, it's just plain faster than matching GUIDs up. But I agree you don't necessarily need to use the VM name in the filename, just the folder if you prefer. Just make sure that - by looking at nothing but the file structure - you can tell which files belong to which VM and what purpose they serve.

comment Do Equallogic PS6010s accept non-EQL firmware disks?
Some Dell devices will work with non dell drives but loose features like health monitoring. Some just refuse to use the drives. So even if you do try it with non dell drives check if it monitors their health properly. Not being notified about impending disk failures is bad.

I disagree. From experience, there are some good technical reasons to have a naming convention where you can identify which disks belong to which VMs from outside of the Hyper-V tools. One of his options doesn't allow you to do that easily - or at all, if the hyper-v XML files are corrupt, which can happen.

comment How to setup a group profile based for terminal server via LDAP?
Group Policy Preferences may be of great use here as well, since they can easily be setup to target specific user groups without creating a bunch of separate policies.

comment Debian ethernet interface goes down while streaming video
Do you have managed switches? If so do the logs for that switchport show anything? Its unlikely to be spanning tree problems, but if it is that is where you will see the evidence.
