comment Linux - Is there a way to prevent/protect a file from being deleted even by root?
@SimonRichter that seems to only apply to BSD kernels. Is there an equivalent in linux?

Do note that a user with root access can unset that flag and then delete the file. That is unlikely to happen by accident but it does not prorect against intentional deletion.

comment Stop users logging into Terminal Server via internet
@user3045068 Well, if you cant change how people connect, and cant spend any money, that really limits your options. The message you want is what you get if you arent allowed to use the terminal server at all - it doesnt distinguish between lan and wan.

@user3045068 in that case I would look at replacing them with thin clients that support modern security, or with cheap low end desktops. Then use a ts gateway or vpn. The rdp client on my CELL PHONE supports ts gateways - there is no excuse for devices that dont.

comment Dell Poweredge 2970 - Cheap subsitute/compatible RAM for lab env?
@DylanKnoll Note that there are some individual ones for cheaper - around $30 - so its worth looking for single 8Gb sticks as well.

comment On a dual CPU server, is it normal for one CPU to run hotter than the other?
@LightnessRacesInOrbit actually he says he thinks that. The config file he linked to sets cpu temp max to 70. That would meam 70 deg above ambient before it alerts you...which seems way too high.

That is definitely a large part of your problem! However, it still doesn't explain the sensors reading 2 deg C unless you encased the server in dry ice or something.
