comment How do I mirror the data harddisk of my win 2008 server to a LAN drive or another local server?
What kind of data? What does this server DO? It makes a big difference for what your HA options are.

comment IP as a method of access control? (IP Spoofing possibilities)
@bnmcg as long as you are only restricting external IP addresses, what I mentioned won't be a problem.

comment IP as a method of access control? (IP Spoofing possibilities)
If you are limiting it to one IP address on the same subnet, others on that subnet may be able to steal the allowed IP address. That doesnt work beyond the same subnet, but may be something to be aware of.

Which H700 card do you have? It comes in a couple form factors - photos or exact part numbers would help.

comment Bulk Gathering of Numerous Discovered Items
What kind of system are you gathering data from? I do something similar with scripts on the client side being run as scheduled tasks to gather and send multiple values. If that is an option for you I can post a detailed answer.

comment How to route load from one server machine to another on falure?
I have edited your question to make it more clear that you are talking about 2 servers, not 1 server with 2 CPUs.

For starters, CPU != server.

comment can I script leaving/joining a domain (and not have to reboot)?
Actually the fix is to make them not change their computer account password and make it not expire. On my phone or I would look up the procedure for that.

comment Strange Bittorrent Log On My Server
If it were a DDOS attack, this would not help. Your server will send a 302 response instead of 404, using roughly the same amount of traffic - plus now the CPU load of processing redirects. At the very least, it should send a 301 redirect so well behaved clients consider it permanent. And if it is a DDOS attack, the owners of bittorrent.com probably wont be too happy that you're passing it along to them...

comment ConfigMgr - Really really slow PXE boot between Hyper-V machines
Dynamic memory off makes no difference. Client and server are on same vlan/subnet so traffic only goes through switches. The problem comes and goes making it hard to diagnose.

comment Wordpress High load average 18 and cpu 81% on a dedicated server
Diagnosing this needs to be done from the command line - SSH into it and look at the output of 'top' and 'iotop' for starters.

comment Virtualizing branch office servers
Excellent points, thanks. They do have decent UPS units that last about 30-45 minutes which takes care of most outages.Unfortunately some are almost rural locations that get 3-4 hour outages every few months (seemingly always on a holiday weekend when I'm on call). Extending their runtime may help. The network gear does come up first - but their crappy cable modems sometimes take 20 minutes to reconnect. Redundant ISPs means falling back on dialup - no other high speed options (yay monopolies), but might be an option.

Getting a proper business router would fix it.

comment Stop file being deleted on NFS mount
An easier option might be to alter your demo provisioninh to use symbolic or hard to its files. Then they all still fully work and can delete without affecting each other.

Just because they arent blocked doesnt mean its a good idea. I would not expect to get any support on this server while those drives are installed.

Note that sysprepping a system may break some software. Or course, so may changing the computer name.
