I have experience with Exchange, Sharepoint, Zabbix, Powershell, Hyper-V clusters, and a whole host of other things.

If you need to contact me, my email address is my first name at my last name dot ca

@snakedoc if you can't get a replacement cable do not try modufying it yourself. Changing the cable to a non apc provided one likely invalidates its UL listing which again has insurance implications.

@SnakeDoc Also, even if the fire marshal doesn't inspect it...he will if there is ever a fire. And he'll notice the cable then. Whether or not that's the cause of the fire, your insurance company might decide it invalidates your insurance.

@snakedoc on some UPS models you can get a replacement power cable, possibly a longer one - it would only require a few minutes downtime, and no soldering, you just open the unit and clip it in. Contact the UPS manufacturer to see if that's an option. If you do end up with an extension cable, you definitely want a locking one. And to make sure that joint isn't a tripping hazard.

Electrically it's fine. Fire code wise, probably not. Most don't allow permanent use of an extension cord for a device that gives more outlets (or something to that effect...consult your local fire marshal). The fines can be quite stiff.

Are these all printers attached to their PC or network printers? Are they the same or all different models?

Especially since other parts of their social security number can often be guessed by knowing when and where they got their SSN.

comment How to troubleshoot network from customers perspective?
Will they let you put a machine on their network which can monitor ping/traceroute or that you can ssh/rdp into to see how well it works from their network?

comment Protecting Servers from Dust
Have another air purifier in that room and if possible put extra filters over the ac air intake. If the AC can be switched to circulate air instead, do so. If they are doing the door and drywall just outside it, that room WILL be filled with dust no matter how many plastic sheets there are (seriously...drywall dust manages to get everywhere no matter how careful the workers are at cleaning up)

In that case, be sure to protect BOTH of those rooms from dust as much as you can. Drywall dust is very fine and some will come through the ac filters.

@Mxx I wasn't the one who downvoted it. Just telling you what I read when I looked into this company.

They SAY that. But many postings online claim they do not always respect robots.txt

Specifically its the version of IE used. IE8 should work fine. 9 may work. 10+ will have all kinds of strange problems with sharepoint.

Are people using offline files on their computers? Are you using DFS for these shares?

comment Is a Virtualbox FreeNAS VM reliable (with a UPS)?
FreeNAS...inside virtualbox...using a USB drive for storage? Yeah...that's not likely to work so great. What functionality are you trying to get from FreeNAS that you can't do with the ubuntu host? Depending on what you are trying to do there are probably better ways to achieve it.

You really need to define "preconfigured" here. You seem to understand how to deploy software via GPO. Exactly what else are you trying to do?
