comment last time an AD user has logged in?
Assuming you don't want #Type blah blah blah at the beginning of your CSV file, use the -notype parameter on export-csv

comment Achieving Five Nines
If you had a valid business case for five nines, you probably wouldn't be asking it here. Your boss might say "we need five nines" but when he/she understands the cost of five nines, that requirement will likely be loosened.

comment How can I connect a SAS drive to USB?
I need to RMA a SAS disk, and would definitely prefer to wipe it first. I may get a SAS to SATA adapter for this purpose. If a laptop had an esata connector, it may help in your scenario too.

You need the PowerShell module if you don't have it:

comment How to speed up AD integrated DNS zone replication? Server 2008 r2
I will accept your answer because I did not know about triggering replication in AD Sites and Services MMC, although that seems to not make a difference in my situation.

After repeated testing (PowerShell script loop running nslookup), I consistently see zones replicated between servers at the same -- and even different -- sites within one or two minutes. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reduce the time by any of your suggestions, although I am very grateful for the help.

I tested everyone's suggestions and I just can not find a way to affect replication speed. It seems that there is still a 2-3 minute delay, no matter what I do.

yeah I am familiar with dnscmd. I am just not sure if I should use repadmin to push or pull the changes to/from the other DNS servers. Wow my previous comment was overly complex!

I've tried repadmin, but I have not been able to get a proven solution. If you can share an example you've used for this situation, that would be a great help. Can you share how you would make the change? For example, change zone to be AD integrated on server A (primary zone). Delete zone on server B, then run repadmin on server B? Or do I run repadmin on server A? Server A and B? What if A and B are same site? Different sites?

I was seeing replication times upwards of 1-2 minutes between servers at the same site during my testing today. I will try forcing replication as suggested by HopelessN00b to see if that helps.

comment Advice re simplest possible windows servers with failover capability?
As I was falling asleep last night, I realized that should have just said "continuous data protection (CDP)". I thought block level backup was another term to describe that as well, but I'm not a backup guru. Basically, such programs capture changes at the block level (surprise!) rather than file level. Backups are very fast (hundreds of GB in minutes because they are making an incremental image compared to the last backup. It's the same concept as Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy.

Fair enough. That's how I approach these things too. I will amend my comment with another approach.

comment SNMP keeps crashing
@user70410, I navigated to a similar registry value: "Pathname"="C:\\Program Files\\Adaptec\\Adaptec Storage Manager\\aus-snmp.dll" Deleting this solved my problem. Thanks!

comment Purge print driver cache on windows 7 with powershell script
oh ok. So if you try to delete the old driver, what happens? Files are locked? In that case, fire up Sysinternals Process Explorer and see which process has the driver locked. Kill that, and try to delete the files...

if you are writing to C:\, make sure you have permission to do so. That's why I used the %userprofile% variable.

push files to computers in GPO: Computer Configuration - Preferences - Windows Settings - Files.
